Caps Lock Theatre presents…
MAY 31-JUNE 16 @ an Astoria Apartment. Tickets here.
In this immersive party play by NYIT Award-nominated Caps Lock Theatre, nytheatre.com 2012 “Person of the Year” Mariah MacCarthy reunites with director Leta Tremblay (Caps Lock’s The Foreplay Play) on their second site-specific production together, this time at an Astoria apartment. Mrs. Mayfield… is part play, part party, in which a group of former classmates (now all pushing thirty) reunite for a night of drinks and nostalgia. As people revert to their more childish sides, Lord of the Flies-style, what follows is a battle for affection, power, and ownership of memories. Also: nineties music!
Audience members will be fellow guests at the party, with the freedom to wander the space (Sleep No More-style), and have complete control over how interactive the experience is for them: a red nametag means, “Don’t talk to me,” while a green nametag indicates, “Yes, interact with me.”
The project will play at an undisclosed location in Astoria, near the Ditmars Blvd. N/Q subway stop. Audience members will receive the location upon purchasing their ticket. Performances are Friday May 31-Sunday June 2, Thursday June 6-Sunday June 9, and Wednesday June 12-Sunday June 16. All performances are at 8pm. Tickets ($18) may be purchased online at mrsmayfield.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
The cast includes Lindsey Austen (The Foreplay Play with Caps Lock), J. Stephen Brantley* (Jackson Heights Trilogy with theatre167), Scott Rad Brown (Created Equal with Red Fern Theatre), Brian Dunlop (Outfoxed with FullStop Collective), Jesse Geguzis (Romeo & Juliet: Forbidden Love at Common Ground Theatre), Lauren Hennessy (“Outstanding Performance” for Ampersand: A Romeo & Juliet Story, FringeNYC), Nicki Miller (THE INTERNET with Everywhere Theatre Group), Elizabeth Seldin (Unville Brazil with FullStop Collective), and Jordan Tierney (The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret with Purple Rep). Production is assistant directed by Trent Anderson.
